Choose a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or more.
Remember that UV rays can penetrate clouds, and that concrete, sand, water and snow reflect them back to you!
Determine the sunscreen SPF protection you need based on your skin type, location and activity.
Don't forget to check your local UV index and weather forecast!
Apply 15 minutes before sun exposure.
Use at least 30 ml (1 ounce) of sunscreen lotion to help protect an average-size body.
Cover all exposed areas. Don't forget ears, nose, the top of feet and the back of knees!
Reapply sunscreen at least every two hours, and after swimming, vigorous activity, sweating or toweling.
Seek the shade during these peak hours.
Wear clothing that covers as much of your skin as possible
Choose a wide-brimmed hat. Remember, baseball caps don't protect the ears or the vulnerable neck area!
Make sure sunglasses are labeled to block 99-100% of the UV rays. Wraparound offer the most protection.
